My Home

                                                             Parting ways from you

From the river to the trees

Back to the peaches

The inevitable place

Just hold my hand now

Don’t blink, you might miss me go

From my heart to yours

From the breeze, the vines, the trees

Back to the river

We visited long ago

You will always be my home

The Pack Shack

Over at the Pack Shack

It gets a little wack

While the girls are selling ice cream

The line makes me want to scream

The tips start to stack

You leave the stand covered in gunk

You start to wonder - what's that junk?

Over at the Pack Shack

It gets a little dirty

Then you will encounter an old man

Who gets a little flirty

- Niamh McDonnell

My Pleasure

Look through the window

The line of cars all the way to Home Depot

The never-ending line

The never-ending line that makes me cry

The food isn't even that good; it's all in the recipe

The wait is long; it's quite the test

But for those waffle fries, we give our best

And when you finally hear "my pleasure," so sweet

You know that chicken sandwich can't be beat

- Denise F.

The Clerk

At 2:00 I walk inside

Bright, beautiful, and all doe-eyed

Little do I know the title that waits for me

That sooner than later I'll be treated like a flea

The title I was given is called "clerk."

The boss tells this with a smirk

The job entails whatever she feels

Not anything that appeals

Writing deposits for what she wants

This is how muscle memory haunts

Filing paper on shelves never-ending

They seriously are mind-bending

I'm only there until 5 o'clock

The minutes go slow and seem to mock

It finally reaches that time

And I leave at 5 o'clock right on the dime
